At one point in the third quarter, the Denver Nuggets seemed like they were all set to defeat the Golden State Warriors, making it the latter’s first loss of this series. They were doing everything right, gathering the right momentum to put together a five-point lead behind Nikola Jokic and Aaron Gordon. Kevon Looney and Draymond Green were observed in deep foul trouble early in the second half.
The possibility of a competitive series flashed before the Warriors. Green said that they went on their runs and we stuck with them. Thompson hit 3-pointers when leads looked to be slipping. Coach Steve Kerr said that the guys have been around the block a few times and they aren’t fazed by this stuff. Green’s big steal was exciting but it was a déjà vu for his teammates.
