Willy Hernangomez lauded Rudy Gobert before the start of Spain vs. France EuroBasket game, referring to him as the "greatest defender in the NBA." Rudy Gobert gave it his all on that end of the court, but France fell short to Spain, 76-88. Nearly every player in the NBA will agree that Rudy Gobert is an excellent defensive guard. However, his restricted offensive ability is a legitimate critique of him.

Rudy Gobert's attention will likely turn to start the 2022–23 season with the Minnesota Timberwolves now that the EuroBasket competition is over. He'll be joining a strong, youthful team that made the playoffs this season, and the team is hoping he can make a difference and help them go far. We can only hope that Rudy Gobert has a successful season in his new setting. He is unquestionably a very talented player, and possibly the Minnesota Timberwolves can advance with the support of his defence.
