Yuki Kawamura, a Japanese guard, joins the Bulls

Following a successful NBA Las Vegas Summer League campaign, the Chicago Bulls announced on Saturday that Japanese point guard Yuki Kawamura had signed a contract with the franchise. The 24-year-old, who enjoyed his NBA debut with Memphis the previous season, averaged 10.2 points, 6.2 assists, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.2 steals per game while playing five games for the Bulls in Vegas.

Kawamura was one of just three players to average at least six assists and two steals in Summer League play, and he contributed a team-high 31 assists, which is the second-most score by any Bulls Summer League player since 2013, according to the history. Kawamura played 22 games as a substitute for Memphis last season, averaging 1.6 points and 0.9 assists. On April 13, he had a career-high 12 points, five rebounds, and five assists against Dallas. The Bulls cut guard Jahmir Young to clear space on the roster.
