The former captain of Australia Ricky Ponting says that he feels there is a lack of a finisher in the place of former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni or the all-rounder Hardik Pandya, even after a plethora of experienced players before the upcoming T20 World Cup. Ponting also feels that if a reliable lower or middle-order batsman who can take wickets, is pulled out, then it can fill two gaps with one bush.
Ponting has previously coached a team of presently suspended Indian Premier League – Delhi Capitals. With that he says, one of the reasons for Australia not having a good finisher was that all of Australia’s best batsmen bat in the top four of the Big Bash League. Ponting in recent years has been a part of the coaching staff of Australia for T20 and in 2019 he was an assistant for the ODI World Cup.
