The series will be the first bilateral meeting between the two Asian countries. The three-match One-Day International (ODI) series between Afghanistan and Pakistan will now be played in Sri Lanka's Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Hambantota rather than the United Arab Emirates, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced on Saturday (July 24). Following subsequent events, the series was confirmed, with the UAE serving as the host country. However, because the 14th season of the Indian Premier League was postponed and then rescheduled in the UAE, the stadiums could not be utilized for the series in question.
Afghanistan's renowned all-rounder Mohammad Nabi met with the incumbent Pakistan Prime Minister and former cricketer Imran Khan and suggested that a bilateral series be organized between the two countries. According to previous reports, Imran Khan requested the Pakistan Cricket Board to establish a bilateral series with their neighboring country.
