Kolkata Knight Riders face a serious blow as Rahane has been sidelined for the remaining Indian Premier League season after picking up a hamstring injury. KKR made the official announcement and wished the player a speedy recovery while stating he would be missed at Knights camp. Rahane had to undergo scans for the injury and later the results revealed that he has torn a tendon instead and had to be rested for the rest of the season.
It is a huge blow for Kolkata who are all set to face Lucknow Super Giants for their final league match in Navi Mumbai as they plan on a better finish than their current sixth spot and only a big margin win can help them get into the knockout stage.
