Andre Russell put on his best performance but everything went in vain when Gujarat Titans thrashed Kolkata Knight Riders by 8 runs on Saturday. The West Indian champion hit 48 runs off 25 deliveries in Mumbai at the Brabourne Stadium yet Kolkata couldn’t live up to the expectations of their fans.
Currently, Gujarat is at the top of the table while Hyderabad stands in the second position. Hardik Pandya top-scored 67 for Gujarat in 9-156, while Kolkata fell short at 8-148. Gujarat bucked the trend where they became the first side to bat after winning the toss in this season’s Indian Premier League. Pandya was back from a groin injury and his third half-century came off 36 balls as he went to score two sixes and four fours in the match.
