Ashton Agar was sent home from India on Wednesday

Mark Taylor, a former Australian cricketer, expressed his concern for Ashton Agar's Test career and his displeasure with the management of the Australian team's handling of the left-arm spinner during the current tour of India. Agar was initially chosen for the Pat Cummins-captained team for the four-test Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

In the Sydney Test against South Africa earlier this year, Agar was reintroduced to the Test lineup for the first time in six years. In order to familiarise themselves with the conditions in India, Australia set up a spin-friendly surface for the New Year's Test at the Sydney Cricket Stadium and selected Agar for the starting lineup. Against South Africa, the 29-year-old failed to claim a wicket and let up 58 runs. Agar, Nathan Lyon, Todd Murphy, and Mitchell Swepson were among the four spinners chosen for the first team.
