Asif Ali, finishes off in style

Babar Azam after playing the role of an anchor and scoring 51 off 47 balls, fell prey to a Rashid Khan. Pakistan almost faltered at the end but, Asif Ali was there to take them home.

With 24 required off the last two overs, Asif Ali did in style for Pakistan, smashing four sixes in the penultimate. Karim Janat bowled 19th over. Asif did it against New Zealand as well, taking Southee for runs. Here, Ali was under bigger pressure after a fantastic 18th over from Naveen-ul-Haq that had just 2 runs and Shoaib Malik’s wicket.

With Ali’s stellar performance Pakistan was able to beat Afghanistan by 5 wickets. Babar Azam’s team is now all but through to the semi-final. Afghanistan scored 147 with the help of Nabi and Naib innings but eventually, Pakistan chased it down in the 19th over itself.
