Australia found a nine-wicket victory over England in the first test match on Day four itself as England’s batting order collapsed once again. On day three in Brisbane, Dawid Malan and Joe Root had put up a century stand together to put up a big foundation that could be used to propel a big score for Australia to chase.
On day four, the story was quite different both the players were dismissed early ended their score at 82 and 89 then Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler kept England alive but Nathan Lyon’s continuous attack saw England give up the rest of their eight wickets for 77 runs alone and were bowled out at 297. Australia then needed to chase a small score down with Alex Carey and Marcus Harris on the crease and the team sealed a victory in just 5.1 overs.
