Pakistan's Babar Azam recently reached a milestone of 1,000 runs as a captain in just 13 innings with his recent 17th century against West Indies. In the first ODI of the series, Pakistan’s all-format captain was seen in extraordinary form, his powerful knock helped the side chase down a 306-run target. Babar scored 103 runs in 107 deliveries and the skipper surpassed the record set by India’s Virat Kohli.
Kohli took 17 innings to reach the 1,000-run mark while AB de Villiers reached the milestone in 20 innings and Kane Williamson took 22 innings, thus Azam’s 13 innings has caught many by surprise. Azam even became the first batter to score three back-to-back centuries twice in their ODI career. Babar deservedly is considered the best batsman in T20I and ODI formats.
