Bangladesh Steady at Stumps, Trail Zimbabwe by 25 Runs

Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Mominul Haque steadied Bangladesh with an unbeaten 44-run partnership, guiding the hosts to 57/1 at stumps on Day 2 of the first Test against Zimbabwe in Sylhet. Chasing Zimbabwe’s first-innings total of 273, Bangladesh trail by 25 runs. Earlier, Shadman Islam fell cheaply for 4, edging a Blessing Muzarabani delivery. Joy, dropped early on by wicketkeeper Nyasha Mayavo, made the most of the reprieve and remained unbeaten on 28, while Mominul was on 15. 

Zimbabwe’s innings was built on fifties from Brian Bennett (57) and Sean Williams (59), with key contributions from Mayavo (35), Madhevere (24), Ngarava (28*), and Muzarabani (17). Despite the strong start, Zimbabwe couldn’t capitalize further, missing the chance to post a bigger total. The Tigers will aim to capitalize on their late momentum heading into Day 3, with the deficit now within striking distance.
