The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already been going through a tough time due to the pandemic. Indian Premier League (IPL) was scheduled to begin in March earlier this year because of the unprecedented situation it was postponed.
Now after putting in tremendous amount of work by holding IPL in UAE, scheduled to start in second week of September, the bio secure environment hasn’t been that effective with 2 more members testing positive. 13 members have already tested positive, which includes 2 players- Ruturaj Gaikwad and Deepak Chahar. They are currently kept in isolation for safety of others.
A surge in positive cases in UAE alone has been a cause of trouble, recent development could further aggravate the issue. Due to this BCCI hasn’t been able to release the fixtures of the IPL as well. Also, is having a hard time onboarding sponsors for the event.
