Shubman Gill’s captaincy in his first Test series as India’s skipper against England will blend the “intensity” of Virat Kohli with the “laid-back” style of Rohit Sharma, says Jos Buttler. Having played under Gill at Gujarat Titans in the IPL, where both scored over 500 runs and helped the team reach the playoffs, Buttler believes the 24-year-old brings a balanced leadership approach. Speaking on his new podcast, for the Love of Cricket, with Stuart Broad, Buttler noted that while Gill may take inspiration from Kohli and Sharma, he is set to be “his own man” as a leader.
"He's an imposing player and an impressive young man," Buttler said. "He's pretty calm and measured when he speaks, but [it's] interesting, I feel like on the field he's got a bit of fight about him; a bit of intensity, quite passionate. I think he'll be a mix of Kohli and Rohit.
