At Nassau County International Stadium on Saturday, Canada defeated Ireland in the 13th match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 thanks to a valiant fifth-wicket stand between Nicholas Kirton and Shreyas Movva and tight bowling.
After losing captain Paul Stirling for nine runs, Ireland faltered, crashing to 59-6 in 12.3 overs, with major scorers Andrew Balbirnie and Lorcan Tucker failing to register significant runs. Ireland's highest scorers, George Dockrell (29 off 22) and Mark Adair (34 off 24), were not enough. Jeremy Gordon and Dillon Heyliger of Canada both claimed two wickets, while skipper Saad bin Zafar and Junaid Siddiqui each contributed one. Canada, who were chasing 138, got off to a bad start as well, losing their top order for 53 runs in nine overs. But Canada was saved by Kirton (49 off 35) and Movva's 75-run combination, which resulted in a respectable total and an incredible triumph.
