Charith Asalanka, the white-ball captain of Sri Lanka, defeated Galle in the ninth game of the National Super League 4-Day Tournament 2025 with a magnificent 142*. At the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Asalanka batted at number five for the Colombo squad, smashing 17 boundaries and two massive sixes throughout his innings.
His performance improved Colombo to 341-6 from 96 overs by stumps on Day 3, bringing them within 94 runs of Galle's 435. He arrived at the crease at 120-3. Charith Asalanka's 142* against Galle at Dambulla on Tuesday, April 22, marked just his third century in his first-class career. Notably, Asalanka's career also benefited greatly by the performance, since it was his maiden century in first-class cricket after nine years. With a strike rate of more than 70 before stumps, the 27-year-old, who was leading Colombo, reached his century off 115 balls and sped to 142* off 193 deliveries.
