Charith Asalanka replaces Wanindu Hasaranga as Sri Lanka's t20I captain

To play the Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian team in a three-match Twenty20 International series at Pallekele from July 27 to 30, Sri Lanka has named a 16-man roster. Chairth Asalanka, a middle-order batsman, was chosen Sri Lanka's series captain as predicted. Wanindu Hasaranga, who resigned from the position following Sri Lanka's early elimination from the T20 World Cup in June in the USA and the West Indies, is replaced by Asalanka.

Similar to Sri Lanka, India named Suryakumar Yadav as their new Twenty20 captain after Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from the format following the World Cup victory. For the next series, Sanath Jayasuriya has been named Sri Lanka's acting head coach, while Gautam Gambhir, the squad's new head coach, has gone with the senior national team. Wanindu Hasaranga, the former captain, will continue to play a crucial role in the team under Jayasuriya's coaching.
