The 10th IPL championship game will feature the Chennai Super Kings. Gujarat Titans, the reigning champions, were defeated by them by 15 runs when they were shut out for 157 while chasing a 173-run goal. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the CSK opener, had a major break when he was caught at midwicket in the second over and the ball was ruled a no ball. He took advantage of his lifeline by scoring 60 points off of 44 shots. In the first 10 overs, CSK's opening pair remained unblemished, but GT eventually fought their way back.
Ajinkya Rahane, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja, and Moeen Ali delivered some lusty smashes that helped CSK reach 172/7. However, GT never really gained much momentum in response throughout their pursuit. The largest of them all, Shubman Gill, was kept quiet by the GT bowlers as all of their heavy guns fell without making much of a mark. He ultimately lost for 42 off of 38 balls.
