Coetzee will miss the second Test against India

Gerald Coetzee of South Africa has withdrawn from the second Test against India after suffering pelvic irritation during this week's first Test triumph in Centurion. The 23-year-old had pain in his pelvis that worsened while bowling on day three of the match on Thursday, which South Africa won by an innings and 32 runs.

Cricket South Africa stated in a statement that he underwent scans on Friday, which confirmed the degree of his injuries. Coetzee was part of South Africa's four-man seam attack in Centurion, which knocked India out twice. However, spinner Keshav Maharaj is expected to return to the home line-up for the second and final Test at Newlands in Cape Town. His absence might benefit Team India, which is still reeling from a 1-0 setback in the Boxing Day Test at SuperSport Park. The next Test match is scheduled to begin on January 3 in Cape Town.
