CSK was defeated as RCB won six straight games to advance to the playoffs

After winning their sixth straight game at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium, the Royal Challengers Bangalore completed their incredible comeback in the ongoing Indian Premier League season. They held their nerve to defeat the Chennai Super Kings by 27 runs in a nail-biting thriller and advanced into the playoffs.

With a tough 219-run goal to chase and 201 runs needed to make the playoffs, CSK's run was ruined from the off as captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was removed for a golden duck by Glenn Maxwell on the opening ball of the innings. RCB slowly crippled CSK by picking up more wickets, Mitchell Santner was dismissed by the RCB for three runs as they kept up their pressure, and Faf du Plessis made a brilliant catch at the edge of the ring. In 15 overs, CSK scored 129/6. MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja offered hope of a comeback but Dhoni’s dismissal in the last over doomed CSK and they were restricted to 191.
