Daniel Vettori opens about Indian Team

Ajinkya Rahane, according to former New Zealand spinner Daniel Vettori, will have to make way for Virat Kohli in the second Test against New Zealand, which begins on December 3 at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. Rahane has had a bad run in the longer format, averaging less than 25 in 2021, and he was unable to improve that in the Kanpur Test when he was filling in for skipper Kohli, who was rested.

In the first innings, Rahane struck 35 off 63 but failed to turn that start into meaningful innings when he sliced a Kyle Jamieson delivery onto his stumps, while in the second innings, he was caught lbw by spinner Ajaz Patel for just 4, extending his slump. Even if Rahane is dropped for the Mumbai Test after Kohli's return, Vettori believes it will not be the end of his Test career, but he advises against benching Shreyas Iyer.
