David Warner is going to have a conversation with Cricket Australia to put an end to his lifetime leadership ban in the coming weeks as the board seeks a replacement for former ODI skipper Aaron Finch. It is being said that the Australian Test skipper Pat Cummins is currently the favorite to replace retiring ODI captain Aaron Finch, although, David Warner may also be under consideration.
In the fallout of the 2018 ball-tampering scandal in South Africa, former skipper Steve Smith was robbed of the captaincy and banned from leading Australia for two years. On the other hand, Warner was given a more severe punishment — a lifetime leadership ban. For Warner, it must be a privilege to be even consulted with a leadership role once again.
"I haven't had any conversations at all. But look, I think at the end of the day, any opportunity to captain would be a privilege," commented Warner.
