ECB Names the 17-Member Squad for the Two Upcoming Test Matches Against India

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) named a 17-man team for the first two Tests of a five-match series against India on Wednesday.After missing the two-match series against New Zealand at home, all-rounder Ben Stokes has returned to the whites. Due to a finger injury, the 30-year-old was ruled out of the Kiwi series. However, he recently returned to international cricket as the captain of the English One-Day International squad in the three-match leg against Pakistan.

Along with Haseeb Hameed, speedster Ollie Robinson, who made his Test debut in the New Zealand series, has been selected in the squad. Hameed last played for England in a red-ball match during the 2016 India tour. Last month, he was selected to England's team as a cover for the Test matches against New Zealand.In the meanwhile, bowler Jofra Archer and all-rounder Chris Woakes have been left out of the team due to injury.The England-India Test series kicks out on August 4 at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. This series will also kick off the second cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC) for the years 2021-23.
