After a tough loss in the one-day series, Phil Salt bounced back with an unbeaten 103 off 54 balls, leading England to a comfortable chase of 183 against the West Indies at the Kensington Oval. This marked Salt’s third T20 century for England, all against the West Indies within a year. He reached his first 50 in just 25 balls as England surged to 73 in the powerplay, losing only Will Jacks for 17.
Returning from injury, captain Jos Buttler fell for a golden duck, but Salt, alongside 21-year-old Jacob Bethell, who scored an unbeaten 58, secured the highest T20 chase at the ground with 19 balls to spare. Earlier, West Indies had posted 183-9, recovering from 18-3 and 117-8, with number 10 Gukadesh Motie scoring a rapid 33 off 14 balls. England’s Saqib Mahmood took 4-34, while Adil Rashid claimed 3-32. The series’ second match is set for Sunday at 20:00 GMT.
