England qualified for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup

As England defeated the USA for 115, Chris Jordan claimed four wickets in five balls, including his third tournament hat-trick. Then, as his team accelerated to 117-0 in 9.4 overs, England skipper Jos Buttler produced a scorching 83 not out, smashing Harmeet Singh for five sixes in an over that cost 32 runs.

Whatever happened in Sunday's last Group Two Super Eights encounter between co-hosts the West Indies and the Proteas in Antigua, England guaranteed themselves a spot in the last four on net run-rate. Having won every game they had played so far in the tournament, South Africa must win this one in order to advance to the semi-finals. In the two previous tournaments, the Proteas were eliminated on the basis of net run-rate in the UAE in 2021, despite losing just one game all year—to Australia. In the UAE the following year, they were eliminated on net run-rate after losing a group match against the Netherlands.
