Indian spinners again had their way with England team on the field, dismantled the whole lineup for 205 on Day 1 of Test 4, and took the charge themselves. Axar Patel’s four-wicket haul wrecked England who was struggling as it is on Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad similar to the previous two matches. Ravichandran Ashwin picked up three wickets as well and curtailed England to 205 runs in 75.5 overs.
Their day started off poorly as well with three wickets lost before they could put up 30 runs on the board, Axar scalped Zak Crawley for 9 and Dom Sibley for 2, and Mohammed Siraj dismissed captain Joe Root for 5 runs. Later Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow held the fort with 55 and 28 runs in the fourth wicket partnership but it did not last long. One by one their lineup was picked apart and India came onto crease to post 24-1 with Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara to continue tomorrow.
