Jonny Bairstow won't be available to Punjab Kings (PBKS) for the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The England hitter is still recovering from an ankle injury he had while playing golf last year. Bairstow hasn't played any cricket since England's home Test series against South Africa in August of last year. In the meanwhile, the Kings selected Matthew Short from Australia to take the position of the hurt Bairstow. The Big Bash player of the season in Australia this year, Matthew Short, will join for the IPL 2023.
With 458 runs scored from 14 matches, an average of 35.23, and a strike rate of 144.47, two half-centuries, and a peak score of 100 not out, Short was the second-highest run scorer in the T20 competition.
