Royal Challengers Bangalore secured their second back-to-back playoff spot with 16 points from 12 games in the Indian Premier League. Riding on the powerful knock of Glenn Maxwell, RCB clinched a six-run win over Punjab Kings. The Kohli side could even finish second in the group stage if they keep up with the winnings.
Maxwell’s 33-ball 57 put RCB’s total to 164 runs at the loss of 7 wickets, defending the total Yuzvendra Chahal and Harshal Patel bowled stupendously to limit Punjab’s chase to 158 off six in 20 overs. The Australian all-rounder is also the top run-scorer for the team at 407 with no one within distance to challenge him. He withstood Punjab’s pressure and lead the team to a win despite Moises Henriques’ triple strike which posed a threat for Bangalore.
