Yashasvi Jaiswal, a youthful southpaw, helped the hosts get off to a fast start after GT won the toss and decided to send RR to bat first. Before Umesh Ydadav sent him back to the box after Matthew Wade caught him behind the wicket, the opener chipped in with a contribution of 24 runs at the top of the order. Jos Buttler and Riyan Parag contributed 130 runs for the hosts in a match against RR, with the latter taking the bowlers to the cleaners. The hosts' innings was steady, with skipper Sanju Samson and youngster Parag putting up a 130-run partnership for the 3rd wicket.
