Harmanpreet puts Powerplay at centre of India’s World Cup blueprint

Harmanpreet Kaur underlined the importance of Powerplay dominance as India finalised their squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, insisting her team remains strong despite a 1‑4 series defeat to South Africa. She dismissed concerns over recent form, noting that bowlers face tough conditions in T20 cricket and that one poor series should not define the group.

Chief selector Amita Sharma acknowledged shortcomings in the bowling attack and said two new options were added to secure early wickets, an area that proved costly in South Africa. Harmanpreet stressed that both scoring quickly and striking early with the ball will shape India’s campaign, alongside renewed attention on the middle order.

The absence of injured all‑rounder Amanjot Kaur remains a challenge, though replacements such as Bharti Fulmali and Nandni Sharma have earned trust through domestic and WPL performances. With Australia, South Africa and Pakistan in their group, Harmanpreet urged focus, preparation and mental clarity.
