The T20 World Cup's defending winners India advanced to the semifinals after edging Bangladesh by five runs in a nail-biting Group 2 match in Adelaide on Wednesday. At the Adelaide Oval, Virat Kohli hit an unbeaten 64 to keep up his excellent form, and KL Rahul (50) broke his run drought as they led India to a dominant 184/6.
Bangladesh set themselves a revised goal of 151 runs in 16 overs after a rain delay, and Litton Das (60) looked to be setting them up, but his absence caused his side to lose their composure, and they finally concluded on 145/6. With six points, India climbed into first place in Group 2, one point ahead of SA, who had played one fewer game. Rahul too appeared to be in excellent form at the other end while Kohli initially did not look confident but soon did.
