India failed to protect their 200 plus target

South Africa is currently visiting India for a five-match T20I Series and met for the first T20I with the host and took a 1-0 lead to deny India a historic win. India has scored more than 200 runs multiple times while batting first in T20I cricket, yet they neglected to protect a 212-run target and South Africa pursued it down in 19.1 overs in New Delhi at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Riding on Ishan Kishan's 76 and late appearances from Pant and Hardik Pandya, India posted their all-time high target against South Africa in T20I cricket however it was insufficient for the hosts.

South Africa rode on a shocking barrage from David Miller 31-ball 64 not out and a late charge from Rassie van der Dussen as the team sewed a 131-run unbeaten partnership at the fourth wicket and beat the host.
