Sri Lanka may have managed to limit Virat Kohli to under 50 runs in his 100th career test match but could not keep Team India down on Day one of test one between the two sides. India ended the day at 356 runs with the loss of just six wickets.
Lanka lacked the required attacking skills to take down a determined team like India, Rishabh Pant’s arrival in the middle order gave the team a much-needed boost and his fast 96 off 97 helped the team put on a good first day total. India maintained 89.4% control and even made 44 boundaries as well as they took advantage of Sri Lanka’s bowling unit with just Lasith Embuldeniya enjoying the best economy giving away 107 runs against the player in 28 overs.
