On Day 3 of the second test India, took control of the test after they were limited to just 202 runs from their first inning in Johannesburg. Later on, as Proteas started their first inning, all they could reach was 229 before they were bundled out, and took a slim 27-run lead. India then set out to give South Africa a target worth defending when they reached a score of 266 with half-centuries by Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara.
The lower order also contributed to the score with some magic work by Hanuma Vihari and Shardul Thakur as India set a 240 target for the team to chase on Wednesday. India enjoys a 1-0 lead already in the three-match test series and keeps their eye set on the maiden Test series win on South African soil. Hosts unleashed Lungi Ngidi, Marco Jansen, and Kagiso Rabada on the Indian team and all three returned with three wickets each giving one to Duanne Olivier as well. South Africa has kicked off their chase as well, with Aiden Markram and Dean Elgar on the crease.
