In addition to leading in the third and final ODI in Perth with Pat Cummins, Steven Smith, and Josh Hazlewood rested, Australia wicketkeeper Josh Inglis has been designated the temporary T20I captain for the next series against Pakistan, replacing Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head.
After being accepted by the board on the selectors' suggestion, Inglis, 29, will become Australia's 14th T20I captain and 30th ODI skipper. Due to paternity leave and Test preparation, Head, who captained the team in a match in England in September while Marsh was away, and Marsh, the team's permanent T20I captain, will not be able to play in the series against Pakistan. In order to be ready for the Test summer, Smith, the Test vice-captain, and Cummins, the Test and ODI captain, are also not participating in the T20 series.
