Ireland acquired their most memorable win of the year as they beat Afghanistan by seven wickets in the first T20 with George Dockrell hitting hard at the penultimate ball to set the win up.
Usman Ghani scored 59 runs for Afghanistan to drive the team to 168-7 at Stormont. And in the run chase Irish skipper Andrew Balbirnie and Lorcan Tucker both hit half centuries before the late show in the daylight. The match became a nail bitter with two needed from the last two balls and that is when Dockrell smashed into the ball to hit it for a boundary and help Ireland to a total of 171. Ireland's triumph came after a run of losses against India, New Zealand and South Africa.
