After completing a 3-0 sweep in the T20 series, India is off to a good start in the Test series as well against New Zealand. In the first test match in Kanpur India’s Shreyas Iyer hit an unbeaten knock of 75 in his debut for the hosts to help them put up a 258-4 at the end of the day.
India seemed to be heading towards trouble with 145-4 at Green Park but later the 113 fifth-wicket partnership with Iyer and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja (50 not out) helped India recover and put up a decent score. Opener Shubman Gill also posted a half-century but without star batsmen, Virat Kohli Rohit Sharma, and KL Rahul India’s batting lineup seemed without veterans against the Test champions New Zealand. While Kyle Jamieson seemed to threaten the young batters but they handled the pressure well to post a decent score.
