The MRF Tyres ICC Test batting rankings has just been updated and it looks like an intense battle in the top five. Joe Root who is the reigning ICC Test Cricketer of the Year has jumped two places in the ranking to sit second on the table behind Australia's Marnus Labuschagne.
Former England captain got a good boost after the match-winning century in the first Test match against New Zealand. His recent century even helped him record 10,000 Test runs to become the second Englishman ever to achieve the milestone and the 14th player overall. The 31-year-old can even bag the No.1 rank soon with just 10 rankings points separating him and Labuschagne and the second Test match is scheduled for Friday in Nottingham.
