England is without many key players as they prepare the squad to meet Sri Lanka in the two-match test series. Jonny Bairstow returns in a white uniform for his first test match after a year-long absence to the field where he found fame. He enters the field as specialist No.3 batsman this week, he scored 110 runs in Colombo at the end of 2018. Joe Root is next in the lineup at fourth and Essex's Dan Lawrence will be next in line to mark his debut.
Both the test matches are scheduled to take place at Galle and Root is delighted at having a world-class player like Jonny at his side who is well versed in white-ball cricket has a lot of experience to offer its teammate, a side that is under-cooked and under-strength for their first match without key players to lean on, like Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes.
