KL Rahul, India's vice-captain for the three-match Test series against South Africa, spoke to the media, just a few days before the first match in Centurion. In the absence of newly-appointed Test vice-captain Rohit Sharma, Rahul stood in as Virat Kohli's deputy and fielded questions on India's likely team lineup for the first Test in Centurion.
For the Boxing Day Test, the opening batter hinted at a five-bowler strategy. When asked if fielding four bowlers, which allows for an extra batter in the lineup, creates a workload management issue for the squad, Rahul said yes. Rahul also agreed with opposing seamer Duanne Oliver that the Supersport Park track starts slow and then picks up speed before tapering down near the end of the match.
