Kolkata Knight Riders recorded their 100th win in Indian Premier League on Sunday when Nitish Rana’s knock of 80 helped the Eoin Morgan-led team beat David Warner's Sunrisers Hyderabad by 10 runs in Chennai. KKR defended their total of 187-6 well against SRH in the 14th edition of the tournament and sealed a win in their opening match.
While the rise in Covid-19 cases may have pushed the series to be played behind closed doors the enthusiasm did not die down on the field with Rana who had recovered from the virus only recently to score 80 runs for KKR and enjoyed a 93 run second-wicket partnership with Rahul Tripathi who hit a half-century while pace bowler Prasidh Krishna worked hard to limit Hyderabad to 177-5. Next Rajasthan Royals will clash with Punjab in Mumbai on Monday.
