McCullum: Shreyas Iyer could lead KKR to a title this season

Kolkata Knight Riders head coach Brendon McCullum heaped praises on their captain Shreyas Iyer before the start of the 15th edition of IPL. The former New Zealand captain believes Iyer to be the franchise’s player of the decade. The 27-year-old had earlier been part of the Delhi Capitals squad that went all the way to the finals in 2020 under his guidance and last season Iyer parted ways from DC to join KKR for Rs 12.25 crore at the mega auction.

In the opener match at IPL2022, KKR would take on CSK the defending champions today and McCullum shared that Iyer is one of the most well-respected player in the world and has the potential to be a superstar. The middle-order batter scored three unbeaten half-centuries in the T20I three-match series against Sri Lanka to help team India beat the Lankan tigers by 3-0 his score read, 57 not out, 74 not out, and 73 not out.
