Melbourne Stars beat Sydney Thunder by 4 runs

It all came down to Adam Zampa who had to defend 11 runs in the last over and he prevented Sydney Thunder from successfully giving away just 6 runs to secure a win for Melbourne Stars by 4 runs. Stars were defending a total of 165/4 to win the match but Thunder came close to winning the match with Sam Billings and Mathew Gilkes's 89-run partnership but Stars tightened their grip in the last five overs and won the match.

Zampa finished with a wicket and gave away 31 runs in four overs. Qais Ahmad broke Gilkes and Billings's partnership in the 15 over and that changed things for Stars. Brody Couch scalped the wicket of Daniel Sams in the next over while Gilkes then fell to Nathan Coulter-Nile in the 17th over building more pressure on Thunder who crumpled later.
