Perth Scorchers grabbed their third consecutive win of the season after they won by 86 runs against reigning champions Sydney Sixers at Optus Stadium. Mitch Marsh can be credited for the win as he posted 57 not out off 27 to give the hosts a fighting chance at 4-183. A loss with such a huge margin for Sixers is accounted as the second-worst loss in their history and to add salt at their wound it all happened in front of 21,608 fans.
New Zealander Colin Munro’s half-century also helped Scorchers in their cause and later blowers kicked their pants as coach Greg Shipperd puts it as they fell at 97, making it their third-lowest total. Andrew Tye clinched four wickets during the night at 20 runs in 3.4 overs later Jhye Richardson also clinched 3-15 off four overs. While Jason Behrendorff, Marsh, and Fawad Ahmed ended the night with just one wicket each.
