Spencer Johnson, an uncapped fast bowler, will be a player to watch on Australia's upcoming white-ball tour of South Africa, as per Mitchell Marsh, the team's new Twenty20 captain. Johnson has even been dubbed "incredible talent" by Mitchell Marsh. Pat Cummings, the one-day captain, is out with a fractured wrist but is anticipated to be back for the World Cup in October, beginning the next week, Marsh will lead Australia in three Twenty20 and five 50-over games against South Africa.
Johnson, Matthew Short, and Aaron Hardie have received their first national call-ups. After a string of injuries earlier in his career, Marsh claimed that Johnson, 27, had regained his form. Marsh said that Short and Hardie will have the opportunity to compete for positions in the next 50-over World Cup in India. Cummins will take over in the ODIs once Australia gets in India prior to the World Cup. Test vice-captain Steve Smith also remains unavailable for the South Africa tour due to a wrist issue.
