MS Dhoni breaks two IPL records during CSK's exciting victory over LSG

Thanks to a classic closing move from their enduring captain, MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by five wickets in an exciting match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

When Dhoni took the field, CSK was in a vulnerable position, needing 56 runs from the final five overs as they chased a goal of 167. He slammed an undefeated 26 off only 11 deliveries, including two tall sixes and a vital boundary, in a performance of his signature poise and power striking that gave the Super Kings a historic victory. Dhoni became the first wicketkeeper in IPL history to register 200 dismissals, breaking two records in the process. He reached this historic milestone with his outstanding performance behind the wickets, he also became the oldest player to win the IPL Player of the Match title.
