Rohit Sharma proved once again that he is the master of planning in a limited-overs setting, pulling off a close win for Mumbai Indians and seized their first win in the Indian Premier League after losing their opener to Royal Challengers Bangalore by two wickets. Proving once again that Mumbai Indians can not be written off in IPL despite their stuttering start.
Mumbai Indians defended their target of 153 runs while Kolkata Knight Riders started off well in their chase but Rohit’s gameplay strategies saw off Eoin Morgan’s men with tactful bowling by Rahul Chahar (4/27) and Krunal Pandya (1/13). With Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russell still on the field the chances of winning looked slim still and unleashed the blowing combo of Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult to see the team off to a win by 10 runs.
