Namibia defeated Ireland to move forward to the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup in the UAE. At Sharjah Ireland was looking at an easy win but Captain Gerhard Erasmus posted an unbeaten half-century and assisted by David Wiese's all-around performance Namibia found an eight-wicket win against Ireland and had nine balls to spare as well. Ireland batted first with Paul Stirling (38) and Kevin O'Brien (25) but after that Ireland’s batters could not put up a decent score as they finished with 125-8 in their 20 overs.
Namibia’s chase was going well and did not falter when Curtis Campher removed the openers. The captain’s 53 and Wiese’s not out 28 saw the team to a big win. In another match, Sri Lanka also joined Namibia in Super 12 after they secured an eight-wicket win over Netherlands.
