After losing the first Test match in a humiliating fashion, New Zealand just a day after gets another blow as they lose their talented all-rounder Colin De Grandhomme to injury. The player would not be part of the other two Test matches that are scheduled between the two teams after he tore his right heel. The incident occurred during the Lord’s match forcing the player to enter a recuperation period of three months.
Black Caps have replaced the player with Michael Bracewell, as the touring party makes adjustments to the roster in London. Bracewell was already with the team as a backup for Henry Nicholls who is nursing an injury of his own. De Grandhomme was instrumental in New Zealand's first innings at Lord’s where he scored 42 in the team’s five-wicket defeat.
