New Zealand’s Williamson would skip the India T20 series

After being ousted by Australia in the bid to take the T20 World Cup 2021 title, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson would sit out of the T20 series against India. Williamson would be concentrating in the India Tests series that is set to begin in nine days. The Black Caps captain was in blazing form and hit 85 off just 48 balls in the T20 World Cup final in Dubai against Australia where the champions won by eight wickets.

India and New Zealand would meet for the first of the three T20 matches on Wednesday in Jaipur. Taking Williamson’s place paceman Tim Southee would be serving as the captain for the matches in Jaipur, Ranchi on Saturday, and Kolkata on Sunday. The sides would also take each other on for two-test series on November 25 in Kanpur and then the second Test is in Mumbai from December 3. India Test skipper Virat Kohli will also be rested for the T20 series.
